Missed Appointment Policy

Here at Aura Family Doctors we work hard to keep our average wait time for our doctors under 10 minutes. As our doctors are fully booked each day, every time a patient fails to attend a booked appointment, it means that the appointment is lost and another patient would have been turned away that could have taken it.

All long (30 minutes) bookings or appointments needing nurse or extra equipment are confirmed within one business day of the appointment time. Please note standard appointments are not able to be confirmed and it is your responsibility to remember your appointment.

Missed Appointment Policy:

If 2 standard appointments are missed by yourself and/or your children within a 12 month period, after the second non-attendance, a consult fee of $80 is charged. This is the cost of 1 standard appointment, there is no Medicare rebate and must be paid prior to booking your next appointment or transferring records.

If 2 long appointments are missed by yourself and/or your children within a 12 month period, after the second non-attendance, a consult fee of $130 is charged. This is the cost of 1 long appointment. There is no Medicare rebate and must be paid prior to booking your next appointment or transferring records.

All patients are notified of our policy before they are charged, this happens when the second appointment is missed. This is to ensure that patients are aware of the fee prior to being charged, providing individuals the opportunity to notify the practice with at least one hours next time when cancelling bookings.

Why we have a missed appointment policy:

We strive to offer an excellent service to patients, and importantly, easy accessibility to the doctors. We are generally fully booked and when a patient doesn’t attend an appointment, this results in another patient missing out. In order to continue this excellent service, please be mindful of other sick patients and give cancellation notice if you cannot attend. We keep record of all late cancellations & missed appointments, however, each case is looked at individually especially for emergencies and extenuating circumstances. A minimum of 1-hour notice is required for cancellations.
